Akai

Akai was a Japanese electronics manufacturer founded in 1929 and has since been taken over in 2004 by the Grande Group based in Hong Kong. The division Akai Professional was set up in 1984 to manufacture professional audio equipment, such as a sampler and a synth. Initially it brought out the S-series range of samplers, the first being the 12-bit S612 sampler, and then the 12-bit s900 in 1985 and the 16-bit s1000 in 1988. Akai also produce the Z-series of samplers, capable of recording at 24-bit and 96kHz, and the MPC range of sampler.
