From DNBWiki
A
mixing desk (also
mixer,
desk,
console) is, at it's simplest, a device used to combine multiple audio signals. Most mixers also provide a reange of flexible
signal routing options via
aux sends,
insert points,
groups and/or
busses; often offer
mic preamps and
phantom power as well as accepting line-level inputs; very commonly offer channel
eqs; sometimes other
effects. They can be either
analogue or
digital, and range from just a handful of channels to 64 or more.
